The APICS Instructor Development Program is dedicated to the ongoing elevation of the skills and performance of all recognized APICS instructors to maintain and enhance their learners' experience.

ASCM offers two instructor designations: Recognized and Master. You may apply to advance to a Master Instructor as you advance through the program, hone your existing skills, and develop more complex instructional skills. Click here to submit an IDP Upgrade Application.
For beginning instructors, instructors with experience in one or two program areas, or more experienced instructors who only teach a particular program infrequently.
May seek mentorship by a Master Instructors through their local ASCM chapter or partner.
Generally, a full-time Recognized Instructor. Masters set the standard for high-quality education by demonstrating expertise in the full scope of the APICS/ASCM courseware and in leading edge instructional techniques.
Contributes to APICS courseware and evaluates other instructors’ performance.
Master instructors may mentor Recognized and other Master Instructors through their local ASCM chapter or partner.
Be an ASCM Member in good standing.

Corporate instructor may submit Corporate Endorsement & Corporate Instructor Agreement in lieu of Partner Endorsement
Have a current certification in the program you would like to teach (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, SCOR). You may also qualify to instruct Foundations of Supply Chain Management if you hold one or more of the current APICS Certifications.
At least one Recommendation Letter from an ASCM Chapter or Partner.
Complete ASCM’s Train the Trainer AND Learning Dynamics for Instructors courses taught or co-taught by a Master instructor.
Instructors who take TTT and/or LDI must apply for IDP within 12 months of taking the course.
Conduct 300 hours of stand and deliver, instructional experience over the last five years. 200 of the 300 hours must be instruction of a APICS/ASCM courses. Any hours over the 200 may include any non-ASCM courses if they are Operations and Supply Chain Management- related.

Upon successful enrollment in the Instructor Development Program, you will automatically be granted access to the Instructor Development Community.
This is your place to communicate with fellow APICS instructors about online instructional platforms, tools, and tips for holding APICS classes online. The APICS Virtual Instruction Community library provides resources on virtual instructing.
Recognized APICS instructors are required to maintain their instructional skills, body of knowledge credentials, membership, and requisite affiliations during the five-year maintenance cycle period.
